INTERNATIONAL FILM EDITORS FORUM (IFEF)

The fifth edition of the International Film Editors Forum (IFEF) will revert back to its original in-person networking format, after the pandemic made only online versions possible in 2020 and 2021. As inspiring as these have been, we remain convinced of the fundamental power of face-to-face encounters – to build connections that can then be extended in the virtual world.

For the first time, thanks to the support of the Goethe-Institut, Edimotion is able to award travel grants to film editors from emerging and developing countries, to enable them to attend the IFEF in Cologne. A three-member jury consisting of Eoin McDonagh (Ireland), Giusy Naitana (Denmark) and Dietmar Kraus (curator Edimotion) selected the eight grant recipients, who will be reimbursed for visa fees, travel expenses, and two nights of accommodation.

The last in-person edition of the IFEF in Cologne 2019, brought together 40 editors from 20 countries. This year we expect around 60 editors from over 30 nations to attend, including from as far afield as Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Gambia, India, Iran, Kenya, Mexico, South Africa, Thailand and the USA.

The IFEF is a full-day networking event aimed at film editors who are actively involved in advancing their profession and its working conditions in their respective countries. Participants are given the opportunity to exchange their experiences, and together develop solutions that address the various challenges facing the profession all over the world. Elements of the workshop formats „world café“ and „open space“ are used. The moderator is Christine von Fragstein.

Participation is only possible with prior registration and is limited to a maximum of three persons per country. Please apply no later than 7 October 2022 to curator Dietmar Kraus, by filling out this PDF form and sending it to the email address: ifef@edimotion.de
A small participation fee of 15 Euros is required to cover for the lunch and tea time catering (Ticket).

In order not to completely lose the advantages of the online IFEFs from the last two years, a shorter online follow-up will also take place on 20 October, for international editors who were unable to be come be on-site in Cologne.
